Serra Club Newsletter and Club Portal
The USA Council encourages all clubs to publish a newsletter to help keep
members informed of club news, meetings, schedule changes, introductions to new
members and other valuable information. Most clubs accomplish this with a paper
newsletter that is mailed to all members between meetings, but the Internet is
becoming more and more useful tool in this increasingly paperless society.
If you'd like to create a club newsletter that can be created easily and e-mailed instantly, check out the Serra Club Communication and Newsletters Portal service created and privately maintained by Southwind Technologies. For a monthly fee plus a one-time set-up charge, your club can create and deliver e-newsletters every month. (Note: Proceeds from this service do not go to the USA Council of Serra International.)
For more information about the site and how it works take a tour by clicking on the "Sample Club" link. The sample site will open in a new browser. For a demonstration of the site maintenance area click on the "Editor Login" menu option and login with user id "serra" and password "serra". Visit the portal now...

Serra Club Website Template
Brought to you by the USA Council of Serra International
The USA Council of Serra International invites you to get "Online" and learn more
how the world wide web can help us fulfill our mission and ministry. This basic web site template
is provided here to help Serra clubs create a web presence.
The template consists of
one web page
that the Serra club may customize to establish a web presence. This page includes a local Serra
club activities information where the club may list its vocation activities,
membership information, club events, and programs. Using this template a local Serra club
can introduce themselves to a larger audience on the world wide web and keep their members informed
of club activities.

Instructions
You can preview the website by clicking the image above. In order to customize the website for your particular club needs please:
Download the "serra_webtemplate.htm" file shown above. Use your browser's FILE | Save
as function to save the file under the same name to your new folder. For example
c:\web_template. You may preview the downloaded files in your web browser by locating the *.htm file in the directory
you just created and use the file open command of your web browser.
Now that you have seen the template and verified that runs properly on your computer you may now customize the
web template to your particular Serra club. In order to do this open the file in a text editor such as "Notepad" in
windows. In addition, you may also use your word processor (MS Word) will also work, but make sure that you save the file with an "*.htm" extension, as
plain text, whenever you want to record your changes.
If you are unfamiliar with HTML, you might want to consider asking someone to assist you with editing
the pages to avoid confusion. It is very likely someone in your club will be familiar with it. However, if not, we have
included instructions in the text that should help you get started. The brackets, exclamation points, and hyphens mark these
directions.
In order to get your Serra club web site on the net, you will need an Internet Service Provider (ISP). You may already have a
small amount of free web space available to you through your existing Internet access account. If not, you may be able to
purchase some web space for a small monthly fee from your ISP or other service provider. Contact your ISP for more details and
instructions concerning its hosting services and file transfer protocol.
As an alternative, depending on the size and volume of material your Serra club wants to publish to the Internet, the
USA Council would be happy to host your web site. Contact
the USA Council Webmaster.
